What is a Makerspace?
A library makerspace is a dedicated area within a library that offers patrons opportunities to engage in hands-on, creative activities and learning using a variety of tools and technologies, from traditional crafts to digital equipment.
Makerspaces typically offer access to a range of tools and equipment, including computers, 3D printers, electronic cutting machines, and traditional arts and crafts supplies.
Makerspaces often encourage collaboration and knowledge sharing among users, creating a community of creative innovation.
Makerspace Rules
Patrons are expected to use equipment and materials appropriately and to clean up after themselves
No weapons of any kind may be made with Makerspace equipment or supplies
Age Restrictions
The machines and supplies in the Makerspace are very expensive and could pose a danger to young children. Children under 8 years old are not allowed downstairs during Makerspace hours. Children ages 8-13 must be accompanied by an adult. We offer many other programs suitable for that age group.
